ABOUT

MISSION
​The mission of Cooperstown Tennis is to improve the greater Cooperstown community with year-round tennis programming for children, adults and adaptive athletes. 
​Cooperstown Tennis is a not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) organization.

BOARD

Veronica Pokorny, Treasurer
Originally from Lima, Peru, Veronica has called Cooperstown home for the past 17 years. She holds a degree in Communications Science from a prominent university in Lima, and has built a successful career in Cooperstown. She served as the Operational Manager at Cooperstown Country Club and, for the past nine years, has been the Agency Manager at Paperkite, a full-service marketing company. Veronica has been married for 15 years and has a 10-year-old daughter who loves tennis and regularly participates in Cooperstown Tennis programs. She has been actively involved with Cooperstown Tennis since 2018, taking on the role of Treasurer in 2022. Her commitment to the organization stems from a deep belief in providing equal access to sports for all.

Emily Gaynor Porto, Board Member
Emily works in public relations, specializing in arts & culture. She has worked with art galleries, museums, and non-profit arts organizations throughout the U.S. and internationally for over 20 years. She is also the co-founder of the activist clothing brand, This is a MomBod. Originally from Portland, OR, Emily lived in NYC for 15 years before relocating to Cooperstown in 2021 with her family. Emily holds a B.A. in Hispanic Studies from Vassar College and an M.A. in Cultural Memory from the University of London's Institute of Germanic and Romance Studies. She is a mom to 11-year-old twins and has been a lifelong athlete, both competitive and recreational. She firmly believes in the importance of ensuring access to sports instruction for everyone.

Megan Schneider-Ajakh, Board Member
Megan is an early childhood educator who currently is a Kindergarten teacher at Cooperstown Elementary School. Megan has worked in the education field for over 13 years, mostly as a K/1 teacher in NYC. Megan holds a M.A. in Dual Language Early Childhood Education from Bank Street College of Education. Originally from Cooperstown, NY, she mostly grew up in NYC and Oregon. Megan is a mother of two children, ages 9 and 12. She took up tennis after having her second child, and it has become a lifelong passion. Megan loves to play tennis, go to concerts, garden and spend time with her family and pets all summer when she is not teaching. Megan’s commitment to the Cooperstown Tennis organization is to provide equitable access to quality sports instruction for all children. ​
