Elizabeth Sheldon, President
Elizabeth graduated with a degree in Marketing from Syracuse University. She worked for 18 years as a small commercial underwriter and consultant for The Hartford insurance company before pausing to devote her time to her family. She currently lives in Cooperstown with her four children, where she is the President of Cooperstown Tennis, a tee-ball coach and an SPCA volunteer. |
Lauren Ferrara, Vice President
Lauren graduated from St. John’s University with a Bachelor’s degree in Ecology. She obtained a Master of Science degree in Biology from Rutgers University, and her Veterinary Nursing Degree at Harcum College, completing her clinical training at The University of Pennsylvania Veterinary School Mathew Ryan Hospital for Small Animals and The New Bolton Center for Large Animals. After working in the veterinary field for over 15 years she elected to pause her career while raising her two sons in Cooperstown. She continues to volunteer her time at various spay and neuter clinics throughout Otsego county. She is currently a board member of Cooperstown Tennis, the vice chair of the Town of Middlefield Democrats, a member of the Otsego County Democratic Committee and a member of the Cooperstown Fire Department. |
Emily Gaynor Porto, Secretary
Emily works in public relations, specializing in arts & culture. She has worked with art galleries, museums, and non-profit arts organizations throughout the U.S. and internationally for over 20 years. Originally from Portland, OR, Emily lived in NYC for 15 years before relocating to Cooperstown in 2021 with her family. Emily holds a B.A. in Hispanic Studies from Vassar College and an M.A. in Cultural Memory from the University of London's Institute of Germanic and Romance Studies. |
Veronica Pokorny, Treasurer
Originally from Lima, Peru, Veronica has called Cooperstown home for the past 17 years. She holds a degree in Communications Science from a prominent university in Lima, and has built a successful career in Cooperstown. She served as the Operational Manager at Cooperstown Country Club and, for the past nine years, has been the Agency Manager at Paperkite, a full-service marketing company. Veronica has been married for 15 years and has a 10-year-old daughter who loves tennis and regularly participates in Cooperstown Tennis programs. She has been actively involved with Cooperstown Tennis since 2018, taking on the role of Treasurer in 2022. Her commitment to the organization stems from a deep belief in providing equal access to sports for all. |
